Parco regionale delle Valli del Cedra e del Parma, Regional park in Province of Parma, Italy
Parco regionale delle Valli del Cedra e del Parma is a protected area spanning two river valleys in the northern Apennines, with forested slopes, mountain meadows, and several lakes. The park covers a mix of habitats that change with elevation, from lower woodlands to higher alpine areas.
The park was established in 1995 to protect these two valleys and their ecosystems. In 2001, a portion merged with the larger Apennine National Park, expanding the conservation effort across the region.
Local people have long depended on these valleys for forestry and gathering wild mushrooms, practices still visible today. The communities maintain their connection to the land through activities that shape how visitors experience the park.
Several marked trails cross the park, ranging from easy walks along the valleys to challenging mountain routes. The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn, when paths are clear and weather is mild.
The park is home to the Apennine primrose, a flower found nowhere else in the world. Ancient beech and chestnut forests in the valleys contain trees that have stood for several hundred years.
