Ponte Costanzo, Road bridge in Ragusa, Italy

The Ponte Costanzo stretches 956 meters across the Irminio River valley, featuring concrete pillars and steel cross beams at a height of 168 meters.

Engineer Riccardo Morandi designed this infrastructure project, which began construction in 1975 and reached completion in 1984 at a cost of 20 billion lire.

The bridge represents a milestone in Italian civil engineering, demonstrating the technical capabilities of Sicilian construction during the late 20th century.

The structure carries the SS 115 Sud Occidentale Sicula highway and serves as a critical transportation link between the cities of Ragusa and Modica.

At its inauguration, Ponte Costanzo held the title of tallest bridge in Italy, with two pillars extending 132.5 meters from their foundations.
