Mazzucco Sanctuary

The Mazzucco Sanctuary is a shrine located within a beechwood forest at 919 meters elevation and features a single aisle with a bell tower. The structure provides a quiet retreat set within the natural surroundings.

The sanctuary was built in 1662 and received a portico addition during the 18th century that housed resident hermits. The hermits departed in 1901, marking a significant change in the site's purpose.

The altar displays a painting of Saint Anne created by Carlo Sogno in 1900, with additional artworks by local artists decorating the interior spaces. These pieces show how the community expressed its faith through art.

The site is accessible by foot through forest paths and offers a natural hiking route for visitors. Sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing are recommended when visiting, especially during wet weather.

A traditional fountain called the Burnel stands in front of the sanctuary and connects it to other religious sites throughout the Biellese territory. This fountain once served as a meeting point for pilgrims traveling between various holy locations.
