Ponte della Pistolesa, Bridge in Veglio, Italy.
Ponte della Pistolesa is a road bridge in the municipality of Veglio, in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, spanning the Poala Valley between Veglio and Mosso. It runs high above the valley floor and carries two-way traffic along Provincial Road 105.
The bridge was built in 1973 after severe flooding in 1968 destroyed the road connection that had previously linked the two municipalities. The reconstruction took several years and was needed to restore access between Veglio and Mosso.
The bridge connects the communities of Veglio and Mosso and is a familiar landmark for people on both sides of the valley. For many locals, it marks the boundary between two distinct communities that share the same valley.
The bridge can be crossed on foot or by vehicle and is accessible from both sides without difficulty. Clear days offer open views across the valley, making it a good time to stop and look around.
Since the 1990s, the bridge has housed the first permanent bungee jumping center in Italy, and it is still operating today. Visitors crossing the bridge may spot people jumping from its edge into the valley far below.
