Monticchio, Mountain summit in Biella Alps, Italy.
Monticchio is a mountain summit in the Biella Alps rising to 1,697 meters (5,571 feet). Its southwestern slope is grassy and faces the plain below, while the northeastern side is covered in forest and overlooks the Valsessera valley.
The summit marks a boundary where three municipalities meet: Campiglia Cervo, Sagliano Micca, and a section of Veglio. This location positioned it as a natural marker across the territorial divisions of the region.
The mountain forms part of the Oasi Zegna, established in 1993 to safeguard the mountainous territory between Trivero and Bo.
Hiking trails to the summit start from Bocchetto di Sessera with varying difficulty levels. Winter visitors can access snowshoeing routes from Piaro and the Panoramica Zegna route.
A geodetic trigonometric marker with code 043298 sits at the peak. Beneath the surface, blocks of melaphyre, a volcanic rock, form the mountain's geological foundation.
