Sanctuary of Santa Cristina, Mountain shrine in Ceres, Italy
The Sanctuary of Santa Cristina stands at 1340 meters above sea level, between the municipalities of Ceres and Cantoira in the Lanzo valleys.
Built in 1401, the sanctuary has served as a central religious site in the Piedmont region, marking centuries of continuous spiritual presence.
The sanctuary celebrates its annual feast day on July 24th, drawing visitors and pilgrims who participate in traditional religious ceremonies.
Two main stone-stepped paths lead to the sanctuary, with access routes starting from both Ceres and Cantoira in the Turin metropolitan area.
The sanctuary contains a geodetic trigonometric point at its summit, marking a significant geographical reference in the Western Alps.
