Monte Bellavarda, Mountain summit in Graian Alps, Italy
Monte Bellavarda is a mountain summit in the Graian Alps standing at 2,345 meters in elevation. The peak sits on the border between the municipalities of Cantoira, Chialamberto, and Locana in the Province of Turin.
A metal cross was installed on the summit in 1950 with support from the National Alpini Association. This cross marks a significant moment in the region's mountaineering history.
The name reflects the wide view that spreads across surrounding valleys from the summit. Visitors can experience from above the distinctive panorama of the Alpine landscape that inspired the name.
The ascent from Gavie in Locana takes about 3 to 4 hours on marked trails. You should bring proper mountain gear and sturdy hiking boots since the path is demanding.
The summit holds a geodetic marker placed by the Italian Military Geographic Institute. This technical point also marks a natural water divide between two major river basins.
