Teatro Libero

Teatro Libero occupies a converted portico of the sixteenth-century Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli and holds around 450 seats in an intimate setting. The stage features modern technical equipment that supports various theatrical formats.

The theater was founded in 1968 and initially performed in the former Hotel de France before moving to its current location in 1999. This relocation reflects the growth of Palermo's independent theater scene.

The space hosts contemporary plays and dance performances created by local and international artists. These productions reflect the artistic diversity that defines Palermo as a cultural center.

The location sits centrally at Piazza Marina and is easily accessible on foot, with close seating that connects audiences directly to the stage. Visitors should allow extra time to navigate the surrounding area, as it weaves through narrow streets and historic passages.
