Castello di Pereto, Medieval castle in Pereto, Italy.

The stone fortress contains a 27-meter-high square keep with four floors, including storage areas, a justice hall, and multiple defense towers.

Built in the 10th century by Berardo of Marsi, the castle changed ownership between noble families and endured significant damage during the 1915 Avezzano earthquake.

The castle represents a central element of local heritage, with its architecture reflecting various periods of medieval Italian military and residential construction methods.

The castle opens for guided tours throughout the year, offering visitors access to preserved medieval structures and educational displays about regional history.

Europa Nostra recognized the restoration work of Aldo Maria Arena in 1982, which brought the castle back from ruins to its current preserved state.
