Chiesa di Sant'Orsola, Gothic church in Vigo di Cadore, Italy.

The Chiesa di Sant'Orsola is a Gothic church in Vigo di Cadore featuring a rectangular layout with a gabled facade and walls covered in religious frescoes. The interior is defined by an ornate wooden altar from 1541 that blends Renaissance and Austrian Gothic styles.

Ainardo da Vigo commissioned the construction of this building between 1313 and 1321 as a family chapel. The work was completed during a period when the region was experiencing a flowering of religious art.

The interior walls display a remarkable series of 14th-century frescoes that narrate the story of Saint Ursula through detailed scenes. These paintings shape how visitors experience the space today.

The church sits in a small mountain village and is easily accessible by rural roads. The interior space is compact, allowing visitors to view the frescoes from different vantage points.

The ceiling features intense blue pigments from lapis lazuli stone and golden stars, similar to decoration found in Padua's Scrovegni Chapel. This rare use of precious materials reveals the importance placed on this private family chapel.
