Higashiyamato, Residential city in western Tokyo, Japan

Located on the Musashino Terrace, Higashi-yamato spans 13.42 square kilometers with a population density of 6,400 persons per square kilometer.

The area transformed from Takagi Village in 1889 to Yamato Village in 1919, gaining city status as Higashi-yamato on October 1, 1970.

The Higashi-yamato Folk Museum contains 13,000 books, a planetarium with Megastar projector, and exhibits dedicated to local artist Yoshioka Kenji.

The city connects to central Tokyo through the Seibu Railway Haijima Line and Tama Toshi Monorail, serving as a residential area for commuters.

The Former Tachikawa Plant Substation displays bullet marks from World War II and supplied electricity to wartime ammunition manufacturing facilities.
