Honancho Station, Metro station in Horinouchi, Japan
Honancho Station is a metro station in Horinouchi, Tokyo, serving as the terminus of the Marunouchi Line branch. It sits underground and has a single island platform with two tracks.
The station opened in March 1962 as part of a westward extension of the Marunouchi Line. This completed a branch that pushed Tokyo's underground network further into the western part of the city.
Honancho Station is a terminal stop, which means trains turn around here before heading back in the other direction. Passengers waiting on the platform can watch the crew switch ends and prepare the train for its return journey.
The station has two entrances that lead to different parts of the platform, so it is worth checking the exit signs before going up. As a branch terminus, the train always departs from the same platform, which makes it easy to board.
The branch of the Marunouchi Line that ends here splits off from the main line at Nakano-sakaue and is one of the shortest branches in the Tokyo Metro network at around 2 miles (3 kilometers). Trains on this branch carry a separate line designation, which sets them apart from the main line services on the same network.
