Wadabori Park, Metropolitan park in Suginami, Japan
Wadabori Park is a city park that follows the curves of the Zenpukuji River, with playgrounds, sports fields, and wooded areas spread throughout. The park has wide walking paths and stretches over several kilometers with different zones for different activities.
The park was created in 1964 when the area was rebuilt because of repeated flooding from the Zenpukuji River. The changes that followed led to the creation of this park as a way to control water flow.
The site contains burial mounds from tribal leaders of the Yayoi period, showing that people have lived here for thousands of years. These archaeological remains are reminders of the area's deep past.
The park is open around the clock, with a service center running from 8:30 to 17:30. You will find restroom facilities throughout the space and parking areas if you drive.
The Wadabori Pond has a gourd-like shape and is an important spot for watching water birds and kingfishers within Tokyo's urban setting. The pond draws many birds that find food and shelter here.
