Shimane Art Museum

The building incorporates water elements through its design, with glass walls facing Lake Shinji creating reflective surfaces throughout the structure.

Architect Kiyonori Kikutake designed this museum, which opened its doors to the public on March 6, 1999 as a cultural center for Shimane Prefecture.

The museum collection spans multiple artistic mediums including paper, canvas, metal, ink, rock pieces, and books from Japanese and international artists.

The museum operates from 10:00 AM until sunset between March and September, with admission fees of 300 yen for adults and 200 yen for students.

From March through September, the museum extends its hours until 30 minutes after sunset for visitors to watch the sun setting over Lake Shinji.
