Shinjiko Bridge

Shinjiko Bridge is a long crossing over Lake Shinji in Matsue, with separate lanes for vehicles and a pedestrian walkway. The structure connects different parts of the city across the water, allowing people and traffic to move between shore areas.

The bridge opened in 1994 as an important infrastructure project for Matsue City. It fundamentally changed how people and goods moved between the two sides of Lake Shinji.

Local fishermen gather near the bridge throughout different seasons to catch various fish species in the waters of Lake Shinji.

The bridge is open twenty-four hours daily for vehicles and pedestrians without any fees. The pedestrian path is a good place to walk and pause to take in the views and surroundings.

On clear days, visitors can watch the sunset over the lake from the pedestrian area, a popular time for photography. The quiet evening light draws many people who want to capture the colors changing above the water.
