JMSDF Kure Museum, Naval museum in Kure, Japan.

The JMSDF Kure Museum displays detailed exhibits of maritime defense equipment, submarine models, and military vessels across three floors of exhibition space.

The museum opened in April 2007 and features the decommissioned Akishio submarine SS-579, which served in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force until 2004.

The facility serves as an educational center showcasing Japan's naval technology and maritime defense strategies through interactive displays and guided tours.

Located five minutes from Kure Station, this free-admission museum opens daily from 10:00 to 18:00, except Tuesdays, with wheelchair accessibility and multilingual information.

Visitors can enter and explore the command deck of the Akishio submarine, making it the only facility in Japan offering direct access to an actual submarine.
