Mount Sanbe

Mount Sanbe rises 1,126 meters above sea level, featuring a 5-kilometer-wide caldera that contains six distinct mountain peaks within its boundaries.

The volcanic formation began its activity 100,000 years ago, with seven major eruption episodes recorded until its last significant event 4,000 years ago.

The mountain holds a central position in regional mythology, where ancient tales describe it being connected to Mount Daisen with ropes to pull land toward Izumo.

Visitors can access the mountain peaks through maintained hiking trails between April and November, with a tourist lift operating during summer months.

The Azukibara Submerged Forest at the northern base preserves trees from volcanic eruptions that occurred approximately 4,000 years ago.
