Mount Oyorogi, Mountain summit at prefecture border of Hiroshima and Shimane, Japan

Mount Oyorogi sits at the boundary between Hiroshima and Shimane prefectures, with several hiking routes winding through the terrain. Dense woodlands and natural rock outcrops shape the landscape along the various paths to the peak.

The mountain has marked the administrative line between the two prefectures since modern Japan established regional boundaries. This border role has given the location enduring regional importance over time.

The mountain serves as a meeting point where communities from both prefectures connect through shared outdoor traditions. People use the trails and summit views as part of their relationship with the natural landscape around them.

The hiking trails are passable from spring through fall, with parking and rest areas at the main trailhead. Sturdy footwear is advisable due to natural rock formations and forest paths.

A rare snake species, the oriental odd-tooth snake, has been documented here, drawing the attention of wildlife researchers. The presence reveals how the mountain supports specialized species adapted to this region.
