Miyoshi Mononoke Museum

The Yumoto Koichi Memorial Japan Yokai Museum displays roughly 5,000 objects related to supernatural beings, including paintings, scrolls, prints, and metalworks. The collection spans different art forms and presents how these mythological figures appear across Japanese cultural traditions.

The collection began with Yumoto Koichi, born in 1950, who gathered yokai artifacts while working as a curator at Kawasaki City Museum. His decades of research and documentation laid the foundation for this museum and its extensive presentation of supernatural imagery.

The exhibits present different ways people have imagined yokai, from traditional scrolls created centuries ago to contemporary works that visitors can interact with and explore.
