Shiroyama Park

The park extends over a wooded hill with numerous pathways and stone markers, providing views of the Japanese Alps and Takayama city.

The grounds housed Takayama Castle until 1695, when local rulers dismantled the structure, leaving scattered stone foundations among the trees.

The entrance features a statue of Kanamori Nagachika, while Shorenji Temple stands within the park grounds, connecting visitors to local traditions.

Visitors should allocate sufficient time for exploring the narrow trails during daylight hours, as navigation becomes difficult after sunset.

The park belongs to three distinguished lists: 100 Best Urban Parks, 100 Best Historical Parks, and 33 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan.
