Nogata Water Tower, Water tower in Nakano, Japan

The Nogata Water Tower reaches a height of 34 meters with a white cylindrical structure topped by a curved dome in central Nakano.

Built in 1929, the tower functioned as a water supply facility until 1966, storing 3,500 tons of water from the Tama River distribution system.

The structure appears in the manga 'Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms' where it connects narratives between Tokyo and Hiroshima.

The municipal government plans to transform the interior space into a public venue for exhibitions, concerts, and cultural gatherings following repairs.

The tower bears bullet marks from World War II air raids, leading to its designation as a peace memorial by the Nakano municipal authorities.
