Mount Kuju, Stratovolcano in Taketa, Japan.

Mount Kuju rises to 1786 meters within the Aso-Kuju National Park, featuring multiple volcanic peaks stretching across 13 kilometers of terrain.

The volcano emerged from volcanic activity above the Miyagi pyroclastic flow deposit approximately 200,000 years ago, forming structures of andesite and dacite.

The mountain holds status as one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, drawing visitors to its peaks throughout the seasons.

Two primary trailheads at Makinoto Pass and Chojabaru Visitor Center provide access points for hiking expeditions lasting between four and six hours.

The northern and southern sections contain plateau grasslands where local communities maintain dairy farming operations at high elevations.
