Iwaki Marine Tower

Iwaki Marine Tower is a concrete observation structure located in Misaki Park at the eastern edge of Onahama Port. The roughly 60-meter-tall building houses viewing platforms that overlook the coastline, harbor, and surrounding landscape from different heights.

The tower was built in the mid-1980s as Iwaki developed its tourism infrastructure along the coast. Its creation marked a shift in how the city engaged with its port and promoted itself to visitors.

The tower serves as a landmark that reflects Iwaki's shift toward tourism while maintaining its fishing heritage. From above, visitors sense how the port remains central to the city's identity despite industrial expansion.
