Nanairo Dam, Gravity dam in Kumano and Kitayama, Japan.
The concrete structure rises 61 meters high and extends 200 meters across the Kitayama River, forming a reservoir of 332 hectares.
The Electric Power Development Company commissioned Obayashi Corporation to construct the dam between 1963 and 1965 to generate hydroelectric power.
The dam name translates to 'seven colors' in Japanese, reflecting the changing hues of the surrounding mountains throughout different seasons.
The hydroelectric facility supplies power through the Ikehara Power Plant, which maintains a generation capacity of 350 megawatts for regional distribution.
The reservoir accumulates water from a catchment area of 462 square kilometers, storing 61.3 million cubic meters for power generation.
