Futase Dam, Arch-gravity dam in Chichibu, Japan.
Futase Dam extends 288 meters across a V-shaped valley, rising 95 meters high with its concrete structure controlling water flow in Saitama Prefecture.
The construction of Futase Dam, completed in 1961, marked a significant step in Japan's post-war infrastructure development and water management capabilities.
The artificial lake created by the dam received its name, Lake Chichibu, from Princess Chichibu during an official naming ceremony.
Visitors can access the dam by taking a 30-minute bus ride from Mitsumine-guchi Station, with parking facilities available for those traveling by car.
The dam structure combines both arch and gravity design principles, allowing it to efficiently distribute water pressure through its curved concrete formation.
