佐野植物公園

Sano Botanical Garden is a park in Oita featuring a greenhouse with tropical plants, spacious lawns, and walking trails for visitors to explore. The grounds include a 60-meter water slide for children and a foot bath area for relaxation.

The garden was established in 1991 on the site of a former landfill, transforming that land into a public botanical garden for the community. This conversion demonstrates the reuse of urban space for recreation and nature.

The garden blends Japanese design principles with modern park features and functions as a gathering place where local residents regularly meet and organize community activities together.

The garden is free to enter and open daily, though the greenhouse and foot bath area close on Mondays for maintenance. Visitors arriving by car will find 263 parking spaces throughout the grounds.

The greenhouse and foot bath are heated using waste heat from the adjacent waste processing facility, making this an energy-efficient operation. This design allows visitors to enjoy these areas comfortably even during cooler months.
