Saku Children's Science Dome for the Future, Science museum in Saku, Japan.
The Saku Children's Science Dome for the Future is a science museum located in Saku that focuses on hands-on learning about nature and space. The facility spreads its exhibits across multiple levels and includes a planetarium with around 170 seats along with stations dedicated to astronomy, earth science, biotechnology, and environmental topics.
The museum opened on March 21, 2001, as a new educational facility for the region. By October 2013 it had welcomed one million visitors over its first years of operation.
The museum shows how science connects to everyday life through hands-on exhibits that visitors can explore directly. People come here to discover that scientific ideas are not abstract but part of what they see around them.
The museum is most easily reached via Iwamurada Station, which is within walking distance of the building. The facility offers on-site parking for visitors and maintains regular hours throughout the week.
The museum displays an authentic spacecraft model from NASA's Mercury program that was donated to the facility. Alongside it stands a full-size Brachiosaurus replica, making both objects centerpieces of the visitor experience.
