Dainohara Forest Park, Forest park in Aoba-ku, Japan.
Dainohara Forest Park is a forest park spanning the Nanakita Hills with walking trails, athletic facilities, and art installations throughout. The grounds contain multiple routes and designated rest areas for visitors.
Local government established this green space in 1973 as a recreational destination for Sendai residents. The project transformed the natural landscape of the Nanakita Hills into accessible parkland.
The park displays sculptures by artist Sato Churyo integrated throughout the grounds, creating an outdoor gallery where art and nature coexist. Walking trails lead past these artworks, allowing visitors to discover them while moving through the landscape.
The park is located six stops from Sendai Station near Taihara Station, making it easy to reach by train. Rest areas, restrooms, and cashless vending machines are distributed throughout the grounds at regular intervals.
The park functions as a natural habitat where visitors frequently encounter Japanese bush warblers, pheasants, and squirrels in their native environment. These animals live freely throughout the forest and can be spotted while walking the trails.
