Sendai City Science Museum, Science museum in Dainohara Forest Park, Japan.
Sendai City Science Museum is a four-story building set within a forest park with exhibits on natural history, engineering, life sciences, and environmental topics. Each floor focuses on a different area of science to help visitors explore progressively.
The museum was founded in 1952 as an educational facility and officially opened in 1968 with a design by architect Kume Sekkei. This building design has defined the space for many decades since.
The museum encourages hands-on learning where you push buttons, pull levers, and run experiments to figure things out for yourself. This approach makes scientific ideas real and understandable for all ages.
The building spreads across multiple floors, so wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore each section properly. On-site parking accommodates many cars, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the facility.
The third floor features a detailed wetland exhibit that recreates the nearby Hirosegawa River and connects environmental science to local geography. This display shows how regional ecosystems relate to the science you learn in the museum.
