名鐵資料館, Railway museum in Kani, Japan
The Meitetsu Museum was a collection displaying more than 30,000 objects related to Japanese railways, including locomotives, train cars, historical documents, and uniforms. The exhibits spread across multiple halls and showed how train travel evolved in Japan over time.
The museum opened in 1994 as a tribute to 100 years of Nagoya Railway and displayed the history of Japanese rail transport. It closed in 2020 after operating for decades at the Meitetsu Education Center and preserving railway heritage.
The collection includes imperial train schedules, early horse-drawn railway permits, and transportation memorabilia that show the evolution of Japanese rail travel.
The museum was located roughly 20 minutes on foot from Nihon Line Imawatari Station. Access required booking in advance and opening hours were typically 10:00 to 17:00.
Visitors could change destination displays on panoramic cars and operate model trains on interactive displays. This hands-on experience helped people understand how real train mechanisms and operations work.
