Miyagi Sports Park, Park in Japan
Miyagi Sports Park is a sports complex in Rifu, Miyagi Prefecture, with multiple playing fields, training areas, and spectator stands. The complex covers several sport disciplines and can host both amateur clubs and professional teams.
The park was planned as part of efforts to build up sports infrastructure in Miyagi Prefecture and give local athletes a place to train and compete. New facilities were added over the years to cover a wider range of sports.
The park is a gathering point for school groups and local sports clubs that use it throughout the week. On competition days, supporters from across the Miyagi region come to watch matches and training events.
The site covers a large area, so picking up a map at the entrance helps to find specific fields and facilities without getting lost. Some areas may be closed to the public on days when competitions or training sessions are taking place.
The stadium within the park was selected as a venue for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, bringing it to the attention of fans from many countries. It was one of only a handful of stadiums across Japan used for that tournament.
