Sekisui Heim Super Arena, Multi-purpose arena in Rifu, Japan
The Sekisui Heim Super Arena is a multi-purpose indoor venue located within Miyagi Sports Park that seats roughly 7,000 people. The facility hosts figure skating competitions, ice sports events, and various other indoor sporting activities throughout the year.
The arena opened in 1997 and served as an emergency shelter during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake disaster. After the crisis, the facility underwent ceremonial purification before resuming its regular sporting functions.
The facility maintains strong connections to Japanese figure skating, hosting regular performances and competitions that showcase national athletic talents.
The location is accessible by public transportation from Sendai and operates throughout the week for visitors. Allow extra time to orient yourself within the park setting and identify entrance points before events begin.
Since 2023, an ice skating show called Notte Stellata takes place here every March 11 to honor those affected by the Tohoku disaster. This annual performance merges athletic talent with remembrance at a venue that itself was impacted by the tragedy.
