宇奈月杉乃井飯店, Hotel in Japan
Suginoi Hotel is a hot spring hotel located in Unazuki, a mountainous area surrounded by river landscapes and natural scenery. The hotel features large bathing facilities with outdoor pools that overlook mountains and forests, along with Japanese-style rooms with tatami mats and windows facing the surrounding landscape.
The hotel underwent renovation in 2015, transforming what was previously a different establishment with a long history serving local people and visitors. The renovation modernized the facilities while the hot spring itself draws from the Kurobe River and has been valued for generations.
The hotel's name references the natural surroundings of the area. Visitors notice how the buildings blend with the landscape through their use of wood and stone, creating a space where guests naturally slow down and disconnect from busy daily life.
The hotel is accessible by free shuttle bus from Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen train station, operating several times daily and taking about twenty minutes. All rooms and common areas have Wi-Fi, and tablets near elevators display how busy the restaurant and baths are, helping guests plan their time without long waits.
One of the bathing areas called Tanayuu is designed in steps like a rice terrace and features a reclined soaking area where you can lie down in warm water. After bathing, guests receive free ice candies in the resting area, a surprisingly refreshing tradition.
