岡大廈百貨店, Commercial building in Myōdaiji-hommachi, Japan.
The Oka Building Department Store was a retail building near Meitetsu Higashi-Okazaki Station with multiple sales floors and food services. It contained shop spaces, a food court on the third floor, and a bookstore on the second level.
The building opened its doors in 1958 and remained a fixture of the local commercial landscape for more than six decades. It ceased operations in May 2021, bringing to an end its long history as a retail center for the area.
The department store served as a gathering place where local residents regularly met for shopping and socializing. Its retail spaces on different floors reflected the everyday needs of the community.
The building was located directly beside a train station and was easily accessible by public transportation. Visitors could explore multiple floors offering various shopping and dining options throughout the day.
The building retained its original architectural details such as steel sash windows and vintage staircases until its final closure. These post-war crafted elements made it a rare example of construction methods from that era.
