San'yō Buntokuden, Government building and A-bombed structure in Hijiyamachō, Japan.
The San'yō Buntokuden features Japanese-style tiled roofs combined with reinforced concrete walls influenced by European architectural styles.
Located 1,820 meters from ground zero, this building survived the atomic blast in 1945 while storing family registration documents from city hall.
The building commemorates Rai Sanyo, a Confucian philosopher from Hiroshima who lived from 1780 to 1832.
Two cherry trees that endured the atomic bombing remain on the grounds, though the building itself is currently closed to public access.
The Kurin Tower atop the building's belfry displays permanent warping from the intense heat of the nuclear explosion.
