Goraikō Falls, Cascading waterfall in Kumakōgen, Japan
The water of Goraikō Falls plunges from a height of 102 meters and spreads across 34 meters of rock face in the mountains of Kumakōgen.
The Japanese Ministry of Environment included Goraikō Falls in their 1990 compilation of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, marking its natural significance.
Local residents maintain traditions connected to the falls, incorporating the natural site into seasonal festivals and community gatherings throughout the year.
Visitors need to follow marked hiking trails through the mountainous terrain to reach the observation points that provide views of the waterfall.
The water flow creates different patterns during the four seasons, with spring snowmelt producing the strongest cascades and winter bringing partial ice formations.
