Shintabisoko Bridge, Road bridge in Yaotsu Town, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
The Shintabisoko Bridge spans 462 meters across a deep V-shaped valley, rising 200 meters above the Tabisoko River with a central span of 220 meters. The roadway measures 7.25 meters wide and includes a 2-meter pedestrian path for safe crossing.
The bridge opened in 2010, replacing an earlier structure from 1954 that connected communities along National Route 418 in the Kamo District. It quickly became a vital link between Yaotsu Town and neighboring Ena City.
Local elementary school students contributed to the bridge by designing the typography for its dedication plaque. This collaboration established a lasting connection between the structure and the community it serves.
The bridge features complete daytime lighting and safe crossings for both vehicles and pedestrians. Be aware that the structure can experience strong winds during bad weather, which may affect visibility and comfort.
Since 2020, the bridge has hosted one of Japan's highest bungee jumping facilities with a 215-meter drop from the deck. This unusual use has transformed it into a destination for adventure seekers from across the region.
