Honryū-in

The Honryu-in Temple stands on a small hill called Matsuchi-yama, reaching 10 meters above sea level in the eastern part of Tokyo.

Established in 601 during a severe drought, the temple houses both the Kankiten deity and the Eleven-faced Kannon statue for protection and blessings.

The temple belongs to the Shokannon Buddhist sect and forms part of the Seven Lucky Gods pilgrimage route through Asakusa district.

Visitors can reach the temple within 10 minutes on foot from Asakusa Station, with a slope car available for easier access to the hilltop.

The annual Daikon Festival in January distributes radishes to participants, following the tradition of offering these vegetables to the Kankiten deity.
