Kohoku High School, Highschool in Japan
Kohoku High School is a public secondary school in Adachi-ku that enrolls approximately 930 students across more than 20 classes. The multi-story building contains classrooms, a library, a computer room, and outdoor spaces including courtyards and terraces where students can study and gather.
The school was established in 1938 and has served multiple generations of students in the community since then. Over the decades, it has developed into an established educational institution operated by Tokyo's metropolitan government and following city standards.
The school serves as a daily gathering place where students in uniforms interact with friends during classes and breaks. The courtyards and outdoor terraces function as social spaces where students meet and build their sense of community throughout the school day.
The school building is conveniently positioned near residential areas that students can reach on foot or by bus. Since the site is situated near the Ayase River, flood control systems have been installed to ensure the safety of the location.
The building was designed by Yasui Architects & Engineers following a modern SQUARE design code that conveys discipline and order. The compact design allows students to easily navigate between different areas of the school, making daily routines more efficient.
