Adachi-ku, Special ward in northern Tokyo, Japan

Adachi ward extends across 53 square kilometers between the Sumida and Arakawa rivers, forming two distinct sections with residential neighborhoods and green spaces.

The area belonged to the Adachi District of Musashi Province and contained the Senju-shuku post station during the Edo period from 1603 to 1867.

Nishiarai Daishi temple, established in 826, stands as one of the three major Buddhist temples in the Kanto region, drawing numerous visitors for New Year celebrations.

The ward maintains lower real estate prices compared to central Tokyo, with average apartment rents at 2,400 yen per square meter in residential areas.

The Tokyo Budokan in Adachi serves as a dedicated facility for martial arts training and competitions, preserving traditional Japanese combat disciplines.
