Adachi-ku, Special ward in northern Tokyo, Japan
Adachi is an administrative ward in the northern part of the metropolis that stretches on both sides of two major rivers and connects residential districts with green areas. The area includes older neighborhoods alongside newer developments and public facilities.
The area belonged to Musashi Province during the Edo era and hosted one of the post stations on the northern route. The present ward formed after the Second World War through the merger of several smaller administrative units.
The ward takes its name from the medieval Adachi District and sits along the northern edge of the city beside waterways. Residential areas spread between rivers, parks and smaller shrines that locals visit regularly.
The residential area lies away from the inner city centers and offers access through several train lines running into the core. Visitors will find mainly residential streets, local shops and facilities for everyday needs.
The area houses a martial arts hall that regularly hosts competitions and training sessions in traditional Japanese disciplines. This place serves both as a practice venue for school groups and as a site for regional tournaments.
