琴林公園, Forest park in Sanuki, Japan.
Kinrin Park is a forest park along the coast covering approximately 9 hectares with extensive pine woodlands throughout. The park stretches along a light sand beach and provides different areas for exploration and rest.
The park traces back to the Muromachi period when monks from a local temple planted pines as wind protection for the area. The current woodland developed from that original planting effort.
The name refers to the sound of wind moving through pine trees, which resembles notes from traditional Japanese string instruments. Visitors can still experience this natural soundscape while walking through the groves.
The park is easiest to access through nearby beach facilities, especially during summer months when a swimming area operates. The flat, walkable terrain makes it good for hiking and family outings.
The park has served as a film location for various Japanese movies, giving it a cinematic quality. This film history is unknown to many visitors, though it adds an extra cultural layer to the location.
