Meguro Cinema operates in the basement of the Meguro Nishiguchi Building, featuring a screening room with roughly 100 seats arranged in a traditional layout. The venue functions as a repertory cinema, showing curated selections for regular patrons.

Mitsugu Okura founded Meguro Kinema in 1930 as a movie theater in the neighborhood. The venue transformed into a repertory cinema in 1975 to focus on curated programming.

The theater pairs recent releases with classic films in double features, creating complete programs for Tokyo's dedicated film lovers. This programming approach connects the cinema deeply with its regular audience.

The cinema sits in the basement of a residential building in Kamiosaki and is easily accessible on foot. Look for signage at the rear entrance, as the main access point is not immediately obvious from the street.

Staff members wear handmade bow ties when not dressed in costumes related to the current film program. This personal touch gives the place an unconventional and homemade character.
