Sagamihara Asamizo Park, Public park in Sagamihara, Japan.
Sagamihara Asamizo Park is a spacious public garden featuring walking paths, sports facilities, ponds, and flower gardens alongside an observation tower called Green Tower. The grounds also include areas for animal interactions and multiple activity zones for visitors of all ages.
The park opened in November 1985 during a period of strong economic growth in Japan and represented an expansion of public recreational spaces in Kanagawa Prefecture. This development reflected growing attention to urban green areas.
The name derives from the nearby Asamizo wetland area that once defined the landscape. Seasonal festivals bring people together to view iris displays and botanical arrangements that reflect local horticultural traditions.
The park is most easily reached on foot from Haradaruma Station, which is about 20 minutes away by walking. Alternatively, buses run from Sagami-Ono Station to the Joshibi University of Art and Design stop, offering a more convenient arrival point.
The sports area features 19 different exercise stations spread throughout the Field Athletics zone. The Animal Interaction Plaza gives children the chance to ride ponies and meet small animals, which is an uncommon amenity in urban parks.
