Joshibi University of Art and Design Art Museum

The Joshibi University of Art and Design Art Museum is a university art museum located on campus in Asamizodai. It operates two exhibition spaces: the main museum and the Galleria Nike, where artworks and design objects from various periods are on display.

The museum was established as part of the university and built its collection gradually through acquisitions and donations over time. A significant turning point occurred in 2009 when parts of a former private collection were acquired, substantially expanding the holdings.

The museum displays an extensive textile collection that documents various periods and styles from Japan and beyond. The works on view offer visitors insight into traditional craftsmanship and how design has evolved across generations.

The museum is accessible by bus from Sagami-Ono Station and the journey takes roughly 20 minutes. Visitors should note that the site is closed on Sundays and holidays, so planning ahead is advisable.
