道保川公園, Recreational park in Sagamihara, Japan.
Dobogawa Park stretches along a tributary of the Sagami River, offering walking trails, wetlands, and a pond with wooden observation decks. The grounds feature areas that have developed naturally and support diverse plant and animal life.
The land was once cultivated with wasabi fields and has since transformed into wetlands. Today watercress and Japanese parsley grow naturally throughout these converted areas.
The park was recognized in 1996 as one of Japan's 100 Soundscapes, drawing visitors who come to experience natural water sounds and bird calls. This acoustic quality transforms a simple walk into a multi-sensory encounter with the natural world.
The park has two parking areas for 40 vehicles total and restroom facilities near the southern entrance. Wear comfortable shoes and bring insect repellent, especially if visiting during summer months.
Twin Valley sits at the park's center with hidden pathways through dense forest where fireflies glow on summer evenings. This secluded area often goes unnoticed by most visitors who stick to the main routes.
