Kouun-cho is a residential neighborhood on the eastern side of Maebashi, situated between National Route 17 and the Ryomo Railway Line. The area is shaped by its proximity to the Tone River and contains roughly 764 households with typical Japanese residential development.
The area was known as Koun-bun during the Edo period and became part of Maebashi City in 1901. It received its current name Kouun-cho in 1910 when the city reorganized its administrative divisions.
