Junior & Senior High School at Komaba is a combined secondary school in Ikejiri affiliated with the University of Tsukuba, offering a six-year program from seventh through twelfth grade. The campus connects classroom facilities with access to university research laboratories and academic resources.
The institution opened in 1947 as a junior high school affiliated with Tokyo Agricultural School and later merged with other area schools. In 1978 it became part of the newly established University of Tsukuba and took on its current form as a research school.
The school maintains rice cultivation practices in the Kellner Paddy fields, continuing agricultural traditions from its predecessor institution.
Visitors can enter the grounds during regular school hours but should remember this is a working educational facility. The Kellner rice paddies on campus offer a view of agricultural practices maintained by students.
This school is the only national boys' school in Japan and allows its students to attend without wearing uniforms. Upper-level students have direct access to university laboratories and conduct collaborative research projects.
