Cross Air Tower, 42-story residential building in Ohashi, Japan
Cross Air Tower is a 42-story residential high-rise in the Ōhashi district of Meguro-ku, Tokyo, with 443 apartments of varying sizes. The building also includes a concierge desk, fitness facilities, and around-the-clock security.
The tower was completed in January 2013 as part of an urban redevelopment project led by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government together with major real estate developers. The project changed the look and feel of this part of Meguro-ku considerably.
The ninth floor of the tower houses a public library and a ward office, which residents use for everyday needs. This mix of civic services within a residential building is unusual and gives the place a role beyond simply providing housing.
The building is an easy walk from Ikejiri-Ohashi Station, which connects to the rest of the city by rail. The area around the tower is easy to navigate on foot, with good public transport options nearby.
The tower connects directly by footbridge to Meguro Sky Garden, a public green space built on top of a freeway interchange. Visitors can walk among plants and look down at the traffic below, which is a combination rarely found at this height in the city.
