駒場農學校

The educational complex occupies 20 hectares of land in the Komaba district, featuring dedicated research fields and experimental cultivation areas for agricultural studies.

The institution, established in 1878 during the Meiji period, represents Japan's first steps toward implementing modern agricultural education methods from western countries.

German professor Oscar Kellner introduced scientific farming methods at the school, establishing research plots that influenced the development of Japanese agricultural practices.

The school grounds contain multiple agricultural research facilities, including testing fields for rice cultivation and experimental plots for studying soil composition.

Students from the current Tsukuba University Middle and High School maintain the tradition by planting and harvesting rice in the preserved Kellner Field annually.
