Enshō-ji, Buddhist temple in Setagaya, Japan
Ensho-ji Temple features traditional Japanese architectural elements with wooden structures and decorative roof designs in the Taishido neighborhood of Tokyo.
The temple traces its origins to the late 14th century Nanbokucho period, with significant reconstruction work completed in 1899 following a fire in 1857.
The temple houses a revered statue of Prince Shotoku and an eleven-faced Kannon, brought from Kumiji Temple during its establishment in 1595.
Visitors can reach Ensho-ji by taking a 10-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line and Tokyu Setagaya Line.
The temple area gave its name to the surrounding Taishido district, referring to the hall dedicated to Prince Shotoku within the temple grounds.
